Egypt is the "Cradle of the three divine religions",
Islam, Christianity and Judaism. From the Sinai Mountains where Moses received
the Table of Law and the Ten Commandments, passing by Coptic monasteries and in
the footsteps of the Holy Family, to Islamic Cairo, museums and mosques
scattered all around Egypt, religious sites are just outstanding and
amazing.

- Wadi Natrun
Egypt is regarded as the birthplace of Christian monasticism. St. Anthony from
Upper Egypt is credited with being the first Christian monk, retreating into
the desert in the latter part of the third century A.D. Wadi Natrun is not
quite that old, but there has been a monastic presence here since the fourth
century. A visit remains a trip back in time to the roots of the Christian
faith.
- Monasteries of St. Anthony & St. Paul
Hidden in the barren hills of the Eastern Desert and dramatically set against
backdrops of cliffs are what may be the world's two oldest monasteries.
Black-robed monks welcome the few visitors who trouble to make it here to see
the splendid ancient wall painting and murals.
- The Holy Family in Egypt
According to Scripture, the Holy Family of Joseph, Mary, and the infant Jesus
came from Bethlehem to Egypt to escape Herod's "massacre of the
firstborn." They remained for roughly four years. What they did and went
during that time, the Bible does not say, but Coptic traditions link a
surprising number of sites with the visit.
